Biography
Born and raised in Champaign, Lanna’s love for community comes naturally. Growing up in the home of the University of Illinois, from a young age, Lanna attended football games with her parents Mary and John, she loved watching the baton twirlers perform in the halftime show. But watching the game and performance was not the only thing Lanna was learning at these games, she was learning about her community and all the Champaign Urbana area had to offer. Serving her community became a core part of Lanna’s life and her family’s support from the beginning has continued to be a key part.
Over the years Lanna has been a part of many organizations including Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court #1070, Champaign County Freedom Celebration, Champaign Urbana Theatre Company, Champaign Center Partnership, Champaign Urbana Young Professional, Champaign County Historic Museum, was part of Business Networking International (BNI) Referral Makers and is part of the founding membership of the new CU @ the Rotary Club in Champaign County.
Her grandfather, Leonard Doyle served in many of these groups alongside Lanna, he showed her firsthand the love, attention and support he had for each individual community member and the projects he served. Lanna has strived to bring this love and dedication into each role she served in both in and out of her Jaycee life.
Lanna’s Jaycees career started before she officially joined the Jaycees. While attending college, one of Lanna’s friends was part of the local Iowa Jaycee chapter. Anytime there were events and programs Lanna would pitch in to help. Years later when the opportunity arose for Lanna to join her hometown chapter of Champaign Urbana there was no question. Since joining the Jaycees in 2018, Lanna has held many roles at both the local and state levels and is now a member of the chapter that started her journey ten years before too.
You can find Lanna and her boyfriend Andrew out and about in Champaign, whether it is for INB, Jaycees, one of her community organizations or just for fun. When Lanna and Andrew aren’t out and about they enjoy binge watching their latest tv show, or a good classic movie, even if Andrew prefers it to be Star Wars.
No matter what part of Lanna’s life you may meet her, the love for her family and community has stayed a true part of who she is today.
